Ian Buchanan
Preamble
My objective in this short article is to dispel some of the myths and misunderstandings which have arisen around globalisation and, by means of lessons drawn from Asia’s rapid development, to contribute to a rational and fact based debate on how to harness its benefits for Muslim business, and the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC). I acknowledge the contribution to my thinking on these issues from my mentor – SRI President Emeritus, and former Stanford Provost, Professor William Miller and in particular his presentation at the opening of Indonesia’s Executive Centre for Global Leadership on “Regionalism, Globalism and the New Economic Geography”.
